Senior Data Engineer We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support a digital regulatory transformation initiative modernizing environmental and natural resource regulatory processes. This role focuses on designing, building, operating, and supporting enterprise data integration solutions that move, transform, and consolidate data across ministry systems, cloud services, and analytics environments. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise in data integration platforms with a disciplined, service-oriented approach to platform operations. They will be responsible for translating business and data requirements into robust technical designs, building parameterized and reusable integration jobs, and ensuring seamless data flow across legacy and modern platforms to create a trusted, unified source of information. This hands-on technical position requires expertise in designing ETL/ELT processes, implementing performance-tuned integration patterns for both batch and near-real-time data movement, and providing day-to-day operational support including incident management and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will schedule, orchestrate, deploy, and monitor integration jobs in production environments, implement data governance practices including metadata management and lineage tracking, ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory standards, and leverage AI and automation tools to streamline data engineering workflows. Collaboration with data engineers, platform administrators, ministry stakeholders, and vendor support partners is essential to the success of this role. Qualifications - 3 years of demonstrated experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise integration solutions using Talend Studio, including developing ETL/ELT jobs, data transformations, orchestration workflows, error handling, and deployment-ready integration components supporting critical business processes - 3 years of experience administering and supporting Talend Management Console (TMC) or Talend Administration Center (TAC), including job deployment, scheduling, environment management, monitoring, execution tracking, release promotion, and operational support across development, test, and production environments - 3 years of experience installing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting Talend Remote Engines, Job Servers, and Talend runtime infrastructure, including environment maintenance, log analysis, performance tuning, connectivity troubleshooting, security configuration, and ensuring platform reliability and availability - 2 years of experience providing production support for enterprise integration solutions, including incident management, root cause analysis, monitoring, performance optimization, configuration management, deployment validation, and resolution of integration failures in complex enterprise environments - 4 years of experience working within a mature Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) utilizing Git-based source control, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, testing, release management, documentation, and change management processes, with demonstrated ability to deliver solutions through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support while adhering to organizational standards and governance - 1 year of experience using AI for code generation, data analysis, automation, and enhancing productivity in data engineering workflows - Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Computer Science or related field of study Nice to Have - 6 years of direct, hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis related to data manipulation, transformation, cleansing, and wrangling - 6 years of experience and strong technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, optimization, and administration in enterprise environments - 2 years of experience building scalable ETL pipelines, data quality enforcement, and cloud integration using Talend technologies - 3 years of experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs, with demonstrated skill in building secure, scalable RESTful APIs for data exchange, robust authentication, error handling, and support for real-time automation - 3 years of experience in message queueing technologies, implementing message queuing using tools such as ActiveMQ and Service Bus for scalable, asynchronous communication across distributed systems - 1 year of experience working with ServiceNow and Azure-based Data Management Platform integrations Originally posted on Himalayas
