Job Description
This is a remote position. We have a contract role open for an experienced IT Security Consultant specialising in Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR). In this position, you will take on a key role in identifying, analysing, and mitigating complex security incidents while ensuring compliance with major regulatory frameworks. This is a freelance contract with a public sector end client. Fluent English and a minimum of B2 German language skills are a requirement for this position. Responsibilities Lead the technical analysis, containment, and eradication of critical IT security incidents. Conduct thorough digital forensic investigations across networks, operating systems, and diverse corporate environments. Utilise specialised security and forensic tools to reconstruct security events and identify root causes. Ensure all incident response activities and documentation align with international standards and compliance regulations. Participate in a standby/on-call rotation to ensure rapid response to critical security events. Requirements Degree in Computer Science, IT Security, Information Technology, or an equivalent professional qualification. Minimum of 4 years of professional experience working within the IT Security domain. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on, practical experience specifically in Digital Forensics and/or Incident Response. Proven experience in Cyber Incident Response and active breach containment, backed by industry-standard certifications such as GIAC (e.g., GCIH, GCFA, GNFA) or equivalent. Familiarity with relevant security standards and regulatory frameworks (such as GDPR/DSGVO, BSI IT-Grundschutz, ISO 27001, and NIST CSF). Robust technical knowledge of networks, operating systems, and modern security/forensic tooling. B2/advanced German and fluent English. Readiness to participate in essential on-call/standby duties for critical incidents. Eligible residency in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
