A Technical Artist serves as a bridge between Artists, Animators, Developers, and QA. They ensure that art assets are properly prepared, optimized, and ready for animation and implementation in the game engine. The role involves troubleshooting production pipeline issues, maintaining technical and visual consistency across assets, and supporting both the creative and technical aspects of game development. By collaborating with multiple disciplines, the Technical Artist helps streamline workflows and deliver polished, high-quality content that meets both artistic and technical requirements. Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact: Optimize assets and resolve art-related technical issues throughout the production pipeline. Clean up and prepare animation assets for handoff and implementation. Optimize static and animated assets to meet performance requirements. Update static assets to improve the player experience in alignment with the appropriate Lead or Technical Animator. Perform PSD cleanup and file restructuring. Prepare and optimize static assets for implementation in the game engine. Slice and prepare static assets as required for production. Extend character or body parts when necessary to support animation requirements. Provide bitmap production support. Prepare bitmap fonts and maintain font styles. Prepare static assets for animation and game engine implementation. Support Phase 1 asset preparation and production. Respond to QA requests through Jira, Monday.com, and other production tools in a timely manner, ensuring task requirements are clearly understood. Communicate major asset or pipeline issues to the appropriate Leads and Technical Animator. What Makes You A Strong Candidate: Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop. Understanding of modern game engine optimization principles. Familiarity with Monday.com, Confluence, and Jira. Strong foundation in art fundamentals (formal training, certification, or proven experience is preferred). Experience preparing and optimizing assets for integration into game engines. Understanding of how asset complexity affects game performance, with the ability to optimize assets while preserving the intended visual design. Basic project management skills, including the ability to prioritize requests from multiple stakeholders. Basic scripting knowledge is considered a plus. Soft Skills Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration. Proactive in asking questions and escalating blockers. Clear and concise verbal and written communication. Strong organizational and task prioritization skills. Ownership and accountability for deliverables. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Ability to balance visual quality with technical performance. Adaptability to changing priorities, tools, and production requirements. Willingness to document processes and share knowledge with the team.
